Task Scheduler
Run an application at logon
Instead of placing a link in the startup folder, you can use Task Scheduler to run an application at logon. This is useful for applications that require elevated privileges or need to run in the background or need to run immediately at logon. Often application run by “startup folder” start with some delay.
- Given app.exe
- Create a new task with:
- Action: cmd.exe /c start “” “C:\path\to\app.exe”
- Trigger: At log on of a specific user (or all users)
